I got the design idea from Canadian House and Home (December 2005) to wallpaper the back panel of a bookshelf to give it new life. It brought about visions of a really funky background that I might pick up but ultimately I picked this subdued olive-coloured leaf pattern that complements the veneer colour and is visible from afar but is not loud.

My 25″x72″ bookshelf required 13 sheets of 12″x12″ papers I picked up at Loomis for $0.48 a sheet (a special). You can see here how the back panel used to be gray.
