This isn’t really deep so much as for me to tell you that I looked up at the (nearly) full moon on Monday night against the really clear night sky and realized that our contoured satellite is well represented by glutin-wrapped black sesame which is what my tang yuan/湯圓 looked like.
To make the soup (dark night backdrop) – on Sunday, the 15th day of the New Year and end of festivities – I boiled water with brown sugar (it should be more syrupy) and added vanilla extract in lieu of pandan leaves. I love black sesame and how the glutin skin was so delicate that when it ripped, the sweet paste just lazily oozes out in your mouth…. =D
