Weekend in the city

Before the weekend (before going away, in fact), I urged J- to organize some getaway weekend. It was, afterall, the last (long) weekend of the summer! Staying in the city turned out to provide ample fodder and firsts for this exhausted and still-new Vancouver resident….

Friday night, we went to Robson Square for free ballroom dance lessons. The main attraction for me was the demonstration by the performance troupe of Grupo America, a group I saw this time last year and again the next day….

Saturday, I got to go to The Fair at PNE for the first time. I’m the one who gets giddy upon receiving a grid schedule of shows occuring at different venues and mapping our schedule with a pen I always keep handy! We ended up catching a dance demonstration, some horse-jumping, a Cher tribute, IAMS Superdogs show, touring a gorgeous prize home, and taking in the exhibits in between!

Sunday was pretty chill since all the action was front-loaded in the long run in the morning – did 23 26 kilometers after two Sundays off and made all my miles on my first week back. =D Some brunching downtown was an order and so was enjoying the endless weekend sun while walking/shopping on Robson.

The weekend was wound down on Monday by attending a Labour Day barbecue hosted by one of J-‘s friends. (That he has nice and good friends is a good sign. ;-))

Okay, now it’s time to get back into the grind! Yay for short weeks. =P

On this day..
