I have bought another pair of shoes and photographed another Shoe Triangle.
I bought the oldest pair of shoes (Asics Gel-Foundation IV’s) only a little over a year ago. My old pair of shoes (Asics Gel-Empire II’s), I bought a whole nine months ago. And now I’m breaking into my first pair of Mizunos (Wave Alchemy 6). =D
In another 150 miles, I’ll be retiring the Gel-Empires and replacing with another pair of Gel-Empires ($180!!*) because they have worked out rather well.
I’ve also upgraded in the world of socks: from how-did-I-live-without-these double-layer socks ($12 each pair) to the multi-tonal and highly scientific Nike Elite Running ones ($15 each pair). Gosh, if I didn’t volunteer every now and then and get a nice discount, I couldn’t afford this supposedly cheap sport! =P
* Realized that I could get shoes in the States, good exchange rate at present, etc. But the 30% break I can get on shoes reduces the difference to a mere $10.
I ordered a couple pair of Mizunos from a place in the US called Running Warehouse. They have free shipping within the states and there are several places in Point Roberts that will accept packages for you. So if you’re willing to bus/bike/drive down to Point Roberts to pick them up you can get a really good deal.
Even with the taxes and duty I paid when I declared them at the border, I saved about $100.
Really? I’ll look into that. I don’t mind traveling there for a nice, deep discount. :-)
