No VAFF’07 =(

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival starts on November 1st* and I’ve perused their 7-day schedule to identify the day that is chockful of movies and shorts I want to watch.

It starts off at 7 p.m. with the “Chick Flick Mix” that includes Falling For Grace, an adorable play on the common expression.** I can’t resist a movie that bears the name my mother selected for herself and features a story of cross-cultural misunderstanding that gets happily resolved. Then, at 9:45 p.m., I want to hop over to catch the set of films constituting “Asian Male Libido”. Amongst the films is Shanghai Kiss I-thought-it-was-straight-to-DVD with Ken Leung (of X-Men) and Hayden Panettiere (of Heroes). Even the two preceding shorts (Brainfart and Mouse, A Love Story) sound hilarious and irreverent!

But, alas, I have a prior commitment that evening and will be very far from the VAFF action. =(

* I kind of really like that about this city, that it has a yearly Asian Film Festival.
** Coincidentally, the movie I did see at last year’s VAFF was also about a Grace, The Grace Lee Project.

On this day..
