His:
After work, NPY met up with two high school buddies–who remain his good friends to this day–to shoot some hoops in Richmond followed by gorging (apparently) on pizza and beer. I’m glad he spent time with his friends and got in exercise but time marched forth towards 10 p.m. PST before which time we had to play the following….
Hers:
Late this summer, NPY learned about QRANK, this daily trivia game wherein we can go head-to-head over our iPhones. It doesn’t seem to have caught on quite as much as some other social games (like WWF, Words With Friends), but we love how the questions change daily presenting a unique challenge and test us on current events. We try to find about fifteen minutes in the day to play it together over the phone and when there are 10 and 5 questions lefts, we pause to let each other know how we are doing, what score to strive for to beat the other.
On the weekdays there is a books category which routinely makes us groan because the themes are often so esoteric and too specific to an author and his canon of writing. The next game we play is a sports trivia where where I’m lucky to get a single one right since I have never followed professional sports that are the bulk of the questions; I fare better when there are “theoretical” questions such as sports rules or Olympics questions. The game we save for last is Daily QRANK which is all about current events and I particularly love the Science & Nature category, taking much pride if I can nail them all in a game. It’s the “big money” game of the three where our true intelligence and smarts comes through!

* NPY’s Picture of the Day. While I’m in Toronto and he is in Vancouver, 3400km away, we will try to share with each other (and consequently this blog) pictures that capture our day.
