NPY’s PotD*: Day Eighteen

He says, “Saw this on my desk when I came home one night and thought crossed my mind that maybe you surprised me and came home early.  Of course sadly not.  My mom must have taken this out of the trash thinking it was thrown away by mistake.”

No, I’m not back. Still in Toronto for another almost three months (then off to Halifax for Christmas). I’ve long wanted to get rid of the green luggage strap that I got from Daiso for $2 since it did not hold tight and then, as a thoughtful going away present, Cari Ann gave me a new one so I threw this one away after a number of years of use.

This dish from Paramount Fine Foods, while delicious, looks like the hodge-podge kind of day Lil Sis and I had. We started with a late breakfast from McDonald’s (2 can dine for $5.98) and promptly fell asleep over lunch hour. We didn’t quite know how the evening would play out but I joined Lil Sis to work in Aurora for a few hours and that ended up balancing the day really well. In the late afternoon, we dropped off the car at Finch Station and went downtown by TTC which was aggravating because the stretch between Eglinton and Bloor was closed to subway and serviced by shuttle bus. We tried out Crepes A Go Go in Yorkville that I’ve heard about year after year as LJC visits it every year when she comes for TIFF.

Then it was time for us to queue for Albert Nobbs. All Lil Sis knew is the actor (Glenn Close) and time period of the movie (Victorian). All I knew more than that was that Glenn Close is destitute and must masquerade as a man to work as a butler until love enters the picture and threatens to ruin everything. Ryerson Theatre was more like a lecture theatre but a nice venue. Then we walked around in the vicinity for some late eats. I originally thought we would eat Caribbean at Ritz but the two locations were closed and we ended up at Paramount for some highly recommended Arabic food where we had this hummus plate with shawarma chicken. It was a very decadent day that got totally reflected on my skin and blemishes appeared at the end of the day!

* NPY’s Picture of the Day. While I’m in Toronto and he is in Vancouver, 3400km away, we will try to share with each other (and consequently this blog) pictures that capture our day.
