His:
He says, “This green reusable bag + beer was my reward for playing 3 to 4 games in two days as part of this hockey tourney.”
We know which part of the gift bag will be most appreciated! I’m so glad NPY had an active Labour Day weekend.
Hers:
I finally made it downtown after a dreary 60 hours in Richmond Hill. With the prospect of being in Toronto for a few months, the tone is quite different–laidback, unrushed, real Toronto living. And living in the suburbs again is more than a little trying on me. Imagine when I finally went downtown on Saturday evening and emerged from underground at Union–seeing all the unapologetically tall and wide condos and office towers made me catch my breath. I could wake high up in a concrete and glass jungle everyday and rack my brain for the corollary neighbourhoods in Vancouver: Yaletown or Coal Harbour comes closest.
Rita and her family were visiting for the Labour Day weekend and LV managed to accommodate everyone with Rita’s husband happily staying in with L playing video games. They also watched the child leaving Rita free to catch up with me and V both at home and then go out. We got into Brant House on King West despite some uncertainty first from fatigue setting in then missing identification. We had a super time catching up–quite floored it has been 9 years since we graduated and Rita left–and at times it was like barely any time had passed at all. The venue was playing mostly mainstream music which gets me more in a dance mood. And, I must tell you, when Katy Perry’s California Girls came on, being Dalhousie alumni, we just had to sing along, “Dalifornia girls we’re unforgettable…“!

* NPY’s Picture of the Day. While I’m in Toronto and he is in Vancouver, 3400km away, we will try to share with each other (and consequently this blog) pictures that capture our day.
