NPY’s PotD*: Day Twenty-Six

His:

He says, “After party meal at Shang.  I got the BBQ duck spinach ramen and strawberry smoothie.”

Hey, that’s exactly what I ordered the last time, the first time we went to Shang. They make their own ramen noodles and the spinach flavour is not something you see often and it is matched with a clear Japanese mushroom broth. It seems that NPY has learned from observation some composition and to include the restaurant name in the shot!

Hers:

By the end of the weekend, Lil Sis and I had made it as far as Niagara Falls (150km away). We visited the falls and got drenched. We weren’t rushing to return and stopped to look at the Niagara whirlpool, ruing a bit we weren’t ready to hike all the way down to the water, and we also stopped at the Floral Clock. I don’t have the photo now and should scan it as soon as possible but about 30 years ago all seven siblings on my mother’s side and the eight cousins (including myself but not Lil Sis) born by then took a trip together to Niagara Falls and we have a group picture at the Floral Clock. It’s extraordinarily cute how in some way we all exhibited our personalities in the way we posed! Lil Sis hadn’t even ever visited the Floral Clock before so she had to see it and get a picture with it, according to me!

Not being in a particular rush back to Toronto, when we saw “grape signs” along the highway for the Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery, we turned off the highway and drove deep into Vineland, Ontario to find the small and modern establishment. I suggested we shore up our Gretzky trivia from Wikipedia ahead of walking in but refrained from actually doing it. I did mumble, “I hate the name Wayne,” because I have hated it all my life. The wines are quite decorated with awards and I’ll probably long remember the especially unique Shiraz icewine they make (one of only two wineries to make it) that was exceptionally sweet and smooth with a spicy finish.

And either we had such a nice time traveling together or Lil Sis is being really helpful finding ways for me to use my Avis Groupon, we’re already planning our next trip: drive to Detroit (~400km) where neither of us have been to. We are planning already because we simply must not end up in as awful accommodations as Days Inn again!

* NPY’s Picture of the Day. While I’m in Toronto and he is in Vancouver, 3400km away, we will try to share with each other (and consequently this blog) pictures that capture our day.
