This month’s unboxing of the March Canadian Glossy Box is late coming so it will be short. I did not receive my box before I left on April 3 for holidays and only got my hands on it on April 8 when I was back. But it’s okay – I want to try everything first to weigh in, but I don’t think I need to this time in particular.
Beautiful Moments Beauty Eyeshadow – in Platinum Tiara
1g ($10.80 for 2g)
The first product I pulled out from the box was the smallest one my hand landed on. The eye shadow is housed in a contained just about the diameter of a nickel and it’s about four nickels stacked high. That’s ultra-compact a case to carry around and I’ve never liked those flat compacts for holding eyeshadow trios. I don’t wear eyeshadow and this first item didn’t bode so well. Nevertheless, it’s a gray shade that is certainly more conservative than pinks and greens.
ModelCo Cheek + Lip Tint – in Rosy Red
10mL / $24
I love the notion of a product that can do double-duty although I don’t know how a liquid works a “blush” or cheek tint – wouldn’t it be too concentrated on one area? I like using lip tint since it goes on really thin and naturally and doesn’t budge. Modelco looks like a unique, fun and designer brand.
L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Dark Spot Corrector Serum
30mL / $30
I was excited to see this product because as soon as you see anti-aging product, you know it cost a lot. This product is for dark spots that, thankfully, I don’t have but it is formulated for aging skin to fight the signs. If you believe there are active ingredients in anti-aging products. I’m really training myself to get in the habit of putting something on at night – not day cream – to treat my skin better and keep my youth … !
Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer – Medium to Tan
120mL / $13
Another great thing to receive is something I already have – total affirmation that I will use it. After all that running in the sun and definitely without adequate sun protection, I’m not going to (waste time) lying in sun to get a tan. I picked up a new bottle of sunless tanning moisturizer during my Shoppers Drug Mart redemption (i.e., a product I find costly, would prefer not to pay for) and I religiously use this stuff through the summer, when we start going bare-legged.
TRESemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment
177mL / $6
According to the information card, other Glossies received TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray which I may have been more interested in. This conditioning treatment does fit the profile of the kind of product I need since I tend to get lazy and wash my hair in a rush and even started blow-drying it. This product promises to undo two years of damage in five uses! I’m rather surprised this product is as cheap as it is, compared to the tube of Jergens moisturizer. Anyways, another useful product for me.
As I was walking to the car after work holding the box, it felt light to me. Was it going to disappoint and I waited so long to get mine? Not in the least! Two of the products (Beautiful Moments and ModelCo) were new to me and even if the other three brands are ones I see at the drugstore, they are products I wouldn’t buy/hesitate for myself. Further, four of the five samples are full-sized and even the eyeshadow came in a decent size. In addition to more of the products being useful to me this time around, as calculated below, the value of the box far exceeded what I paid. Good job, Glossy Box Canada.
