Last year, I could see the Cavalia tent from my Toronto apartment’s bedroom but it was relatively far away.

One evening, I was at the once-a-year night market near The Docks and I saw the gleaming white tents and lights from close up.

This year, Cavalia’s Odysseo really is in my backyard. From noticing some activity on the site of the food truck festival …

… to the tell-tale flags …

… to the arches being erected – I would love to stand under those …

… then finally, long days of work on the site and we saw the crew were still onsite when we got home from work …

… to the nearly final, recognizable shape …

The sound doesn’t travel clearly to my apartment but the bass does. It’s not worse than the annoying neighbour who equates Saturday night with unimaginatively cranking up the music all night. A cousin of mine moved into a townhouse across the street from the lot and hears everything. Thus he is well aware of having to deal with the noise and post-show traffic jams seven days a week for a month. When did we get so old and crankpants? :P

The funny thing is … a horse show is pretty low on my list of things I would want to watch.
